Energy systems are made up of equipment and capital that last decades, transition is by nature complex and slow – as can be seen in the current energy crisis. This session is going to focus on improvement in energy infrastructure performance and reliability to address climate challenges. Along with building clean energy infrastructure it is important to retrofit our existing fossil fuel assets to low emitting systems, either through deployment of technologies like CCUS and DAC (Direct Air Capture) or by identifying leaks and risks in the system before they happen. We will explore the role of digital technologies in improving the performance of existing and new assets. The discussion will seek to answer the question: how do we address climate change while living with infrastructure in an industry that takes a long time to rotate?
