When Oceanwinds (OW) was created in 2020 as a JV between EDPR and Engie, the company had no data infrastructure to handle operational data generated by its offshore wind turbines, almost already operative.
From the first moment they selected PI System. OW had the know how for the operation of wind power plants and it was urgent to deploy the data infrastructure to meet OW's strict operational requirements.
PI System was deployed from scratch and in weeks monitoring dashboards and videowall were made available. Since then OW has evolved its PI System to include data quality, digital twins for each turbine, losses calculation and classification, events, reporting, data exchange over PI Web API, data publishing on CONNECT... Predictive maintenance and system watchdog are next as every initiative shows such short payback.
