Abstract:
Pipeline operators are under increasing pressure to modernize aging infrastructure, improve resiliency, and scale securely—while controlling costs and proving clear business value. At the same time, moving mission-critical enterprise and operational workloads to the cloud raises practical questions: what’s the right scope, how long will it take, what changes in architecture are required, and how do you handle the financial model as costs shift from capital projects to ongoing cloud spend?
In this keynote, Southwest Gas and AWS will share Southwest Gas’ journey migrating Enterprise applications and workloads to AWS. They will walk through project scope, timelines, and key lessons learned from planning through execution. The session will also cover how Southwest Gas approached capitalizing the cloud migration, including considerations and tradeoffs in the CapEx vs. OpEx discussion. Finally, attendees will see an overview of the current and new SCADA architectures, highlighting the framework and design patterns used to run SCADA-related systems in AWS.
