Abstract:
In midstream operations, safely maintaining reliable throughput requires balancing complex hydraulic dynamics across varying terrain, batch types, and delivery points. As takeaway demand grows, operators are seeking innovative ways to optimize existing assets from within the control room. This session, co-presented by ONEOK, demonstrates how layering real-time closed-loop control over existing SCADA infrastructure unlocks additional operational headroom, reduces power spend, and standardizes control execution without requiring capital-intensive physical expansion.
ONEOK will share results from a closed-loop production deployment highlighting:
- Lower Power Spend: By deploying leanOPT™ ONEOK was able to continuously maintain optimized, leaner hydraulic profiles and reduce average peak pressures resulting in a minimum 2.5%+ reduction in annual power costs.
- Unlocked Capacity: On an apportioned pipeline constrained ~37% of the time, ONEOK deployed maxOPT™ which identified dynamic throughput headroom that was autonomously executed to every 10 to 30 seconds, achieving up to a 4.0% volumetric throughput increase in operations.
- Operational Excellence: ONEOK deployed pipeBOT automation to reduced operator workload. The closed-loop control system reduced 82%+ reduction in manual command clicks with >85% software utilization, easing cognitive load and mitigating shift-to-shift execution variability.
Attendees will leave with a playbook for maximizing capacity, reducing energy spend, and standardizing control room performance atop SCADA and assets they already own.
