Baker Hughes adopts ETAP for pre-FEED electrical stability analysis of data center power plants
Location Name
Amber 3 - Level 2
Description

The transformation of data center power supply models, partially replacing conventional grid-connected architectures with captive generation plants, poses new electrical stability challenges. Baker Hughes uses ETAP as a key software for pre FEED studies to analyze these scenarios. The presentation emphasizes the importance of accurate validation of rotating equipment to preserve power quality, with study cases involving inverter based resources such as  Battery Energy Storage Systems, industrial gas turbines such as Nova LT16, and synchronous condensers from the Baker Hughes portfolio. RMS dynamic simulations demonstrate ETAP’s capability to support critical equipment sizing and to analyze transient operating scenarios involving technologies with significantly different responses.
