The demand for dispatchable power generation reaches new records every year. Aeroderivative peaking plants have seen record starts, stops, and usage for the past five years. This use, while often profitable, increases equipment wear and tear.

Predictive analytics—proven outside peaking applications—enables users to be proactive, to detect emerging problems, and provide an opportunity to mitigate the problems until a planned outage. However, applying this technology to peaking facilities has proven elusive due to their changing operating profiles, run times, and frequent stops and starts.

In this session, the author—the owner and operator of the world’s largest peaking fleet—will share development of a partnership with AVEVA to develop, test, and apply predictive analytics in multiple peaking facilities.
