Giovanni Alvarez MS is the mechnical engineer in Energy Operations at Stanford University.When his family asks him what he does for work, he says 'I keep Stanford comfortable.'
He is from the San Francisco Bay Area in California and studied physics at Saint Mary's College of California (GO GAELS) and mechanical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
Gio takes care of the 20 + 20 miles of thermal piping underground at Stanford and supports the operation of the thermal powerplant on campus.He is motivated by sustainability and creating a better world for his future children.
When he completes an hour of work, he takes 2 hour walks and enjoys all the sights and sounds that the Stanford Campus has to offer.Giovanni hopes that you will visit his work and that he can give you a tour of the Central Energy Facility.
In his free time, you can find him at the sidelines of a college basketball or MLB baseball game.He currently has no free time as he is studying for his Professional Engineer exam.
Giovanni finds it funny that most of his coworkers have kids his age. Giovanni is proud to be a first-generation graduate and hopes he makes his parents proud.Gio is a musician. He plays Jazz trombone and listens to Fall Out Boy.Gio is a chef. He makes tasty food.He enjoys eating.
When he's not driving a golf cart across campus, he is with his wife, Sarah, and his silly dog, Higgs.
