Ok Tedi, PNG’s longest-running open pit mine, faced declining ore grades and operational instability, resulting in lost trust in process control systems. Working with Mipac, the Processing Improvement department leveraged AVEVA PI System to address digital maturity gaps, inefficiencies, and equipment reliability. This presentation explores Ok Tedi’s data-driven recovery strategy which had measurable results including increasing copper recovery by 2.4% and gold by 7.4%.
