Boliden, a Swedish multinational metals, mining, and smelting company, recently partnered with AVEVA and SKF to combine condition monitoring and process data for better collaboration and enhanced insights.
Boliden faced challenges related to high maintenance costs, and high failure rates on bearings causing unplanned downtime. Data was siloed with maintenance engineers working on limited datasets. Whilst vibration analysts at partner company SKF were looking at condition monitoring data in a completely separate environment.
Through CONNECT Boliden was able to combine and contextualize its PI system data with vibration data which was monitored in SKF Observer. By centralizing data in the cloud, they were able to enhance collaboration for greater insights, reducing costly unplanned shutdowns and carry our root cause analysis into bearing failures.
In this session, you will hear about how Boliden was able to enhance collaboration through the cloud and establish a robust maintenance framework. One which supports proactive maintenance strategies, reduces downtime and improves overall operational efficiency.
