My name is Tim Mertens (46) and I live in Antwerp, in the northern part of Belgium. Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by computers. As a student, I obtained a degree in Electronics (Computer Technology) and later on, a second degree in Informatics (Programming).
In the year 2000, I started my career as a repair technician at Dimed Electronic Engineering NV. Over time, I progressed to become head of laboratory, specialized in the precise measurement and calibration of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, and electrical signals, all under a BELAC Accreditation (ISO 17025) for customers in sectors like avionics, pharma, automotive, food & glass industry.
In 2015, I started at BASF Antwerpen NV (Belgium). The first four years, I worked at Central Maintenance in the Instrumentation and Electronics department. And I got the opportunity to be part of the Mobile Automation team. Today I'm a DevOps Engineer in the Mobile & Workflow Applications team and I'm the technical contact for Mobile Operator Rounds and Periodic Checks (a WorkTasks application). Our team is offering digital solutions for manufacturing.
