With 32 years of extensive experience in the power sector, Mr. Kartikeya R. Misra is a recognised expert in the operation, maintenance, performance management, project management, digitization, and the erection, testing, commissioning of large thermal power stations, with a strong emphasis on maintaining safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.
He Currently, leads 1690 MW thermal power plant at JSW in Vijayanagar, Ballari. In this role, he is also at the forefront of driving digital transformation across JSW Energy's thermal business. His initiatives have led to substantial improvements, notably reducing Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC) and the Heat Rate of the thermal power plants. Among his major achievements is the successful flexible operation of a 300 MW thermal power plant at an unprecedented low load operation at 25% , a feat that underscores his commitment to innovation and efficiency.
Before his current position, Mr. Misra served as the Head of the O&M (Operations and maintenance) Function at JSW Energy’s 1690 MW Vijayanagar and 1200 MW Ratnagiri Thermal Power Plants. His leadership was instrumental in significantly improving these plants' operational performance, marked by reductions in APC, Heat Rate, and the time required for capital and annual overhauls.
In association with JSW Group spans is 13 years, during which he has consistently demonstrated his capability to enhance plant performance and implement advanced maintenance practices such as Total Quality Management (TQM) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
Prior to joining JSW, he gained valuable experience during his tenure as Deputy General Manager at GMDC Ahmedabad and in various roles over a decade at Gujarat Electricity Board's KLTPS.
Mr. Kartikeya R Misra’s academic background includes an Executive Post Graduate Program (PGP) from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, a Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering from NPTI Nagpur, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Saurashtra University, India. He is also a certified Energy Manager and Energy Auditor.
