Equinor used to value its equity and third parties crudes with empirical formulas in Excel for Brent-like crudes. These approach presented challenges that hinder our ability to produce and maintain a consistent valuation of crudes across regions, like:

• Excessive manual work, resulting in delays in renponse time to asess the effect of changing market conditions.
• Descentralised process where analyst choose different approaches across geographies or over time
• Results were produced at different frequencies and not distibuted across the crude organization 

The implementation of Spiral Assay Web netback modules and recently Spiral Plan has allowed to quickly and automatically calculate the netback value of crude oils in key market and specific refineries configurations, with high quality, consistency across segments and higher efficiency.
