BASF, a global leader in chemicals, was faced with the huge challenge to (digitalize) operator rounds across its 6km² Verbundsite in Antwerp. Each production plant on site has its own ways of doing things, more standardized tools were needed to improve safety, security and productivity. BASF Antwerp adopted AVEVA Mobile Operator, in combination with WorkTasks and PI System, to empower its workforce through standardized reporting, greater situational awareness and operational excellence.

Highlights include:

· 40 large production sites have built their own operator rounds and in last year alone, 650,000 results were transferred to PI System

· Achieved the measurement of Tube Metal Temperatures via Bluetooth with AVEVA Mobile Operator, performing 50,000 measurements each year, which allows the regulation of furnace temperature and the decision when to initiate a decoking process. Thereby, obtaining more accurate results, a reduction in manhours and extended overall lifetime of the furnace coils.
