Description

This presentation explores the synergies between two major technological advancements in the industrial and energy sectors, aimed at enhancing efficiency, security, and cost-effectiveness through open collaboration. We focus on the modernization of substation automation via the IEC 61850 standard, utilizing tools like AVEVA FogLAMP, CoMPAS and CONNECT.  Developed collaboratively by AVEVA, Dianomic, RTE, and Alliander within the LF Energy open-source community, these tools leverage collective expertise to create robust, reliable, and cost-efficient software solutions, offering substantial cost savings, improved cybersecurity, and enhanced reliability through extensive testing and feedback.

Additionally, the CONNECT platform integrates the industrial ecosystem into a secure, open, and neutral cloud environment, enabling real-time digital transformation. By combining the robustness of on-premises industrial applications with the scalability and accessibility of the cloud, CONNECT facilitates seamless data integration from various sources such as substations, customers, power generators, transmitters, distributors, and market players. This integration promotes sustainable growth by accelerating transformation, reducing costs, and optimizing large-scale operations for entities like RTE.
