Description

ENGIE’s purpose is to act to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions. ENGIE has reshaped its portfolio of assets and build an organization to be the leader in the energy transition.

Digitalization is an important lever to achieve our goals and we use data to make better decisions, be more agile and transparent. ENGIE has created a data historian platform called Robin that is based on AVEVA PI. It is connected to assets from all over the world and from different types such as power plants, gas terminals, distribution networks, renewable assets, batteries, etc…

Robin collects data in real-time from these assets and uses it to improve their performance, reduce emissions, increase the availability and help with the valorization of the assets. Over time ENGIE has developed a library of asset models and analytics on Robin to support these goals. The latest and greatest addition to Robin is an application for Vibration monitoring.

Traditionally vibrations are a one of the most important parameters to assess the condition of rotating equipment. Engie has developed Robin VM which is a solution for the monitoring of vibrations on large shafts of its thermal power plants. This solution is based on AVEVA PI and offers a series of functionalities for operators in the control rooms and vibration experts.

Operators can view live data on a series of web-based diagrams such as bar charts, bushing views, polar-, bode - and FFT diagrams.  Due to the high speed of measurement and processing, diagrams typically get updated several times per second giving a continuous stream of data.

A separate application has been built for off-line analysis to study vibrations over a longer period.  This application allows to compare regimes, starts and stops, find degradation phenomenons, balance shafts and correlate vibration data with other process data such as output power, condenser conditions, bearing conditions, etc…

The presentation will have 3 main blocks

  1. Short presentation of ENGIE
  2. Presentation Robin based on AVEVA PI
  3. Robin VM part dedicated to Vibrations.
