Pietro Di Zanno has had a varied professional career, within technical, marketing and sales positions during his 40+ years of work experience.

Starting in 1985 as a process engineer for Shell Canada Products’ Montreal East Refinery, he was exposed to all  the refinery’s unit processes. He was transferred to The Hague, The Netherlands for Shell International in 1991 and in 1992.  He returned to the Montreal refinery as a bottom of the barrel (bitumen) and lubes specialist.

In 1995 he became a Business Development Manager in London, Ontario and in Calgary, Alberta for Air Liquide Canada Inc. In 2000, he was promoted to the Global Market Manager for the Oil and Gas Market, at Air Liquide’s headquarters in Paris, France. 

In 2009, in Frankfurt Germany, he led a team of experts in Lurgi’s (Air Liquide Engineering division) Chemical Conversion Market, supporting sales efforts for methanol, and related products and derivatives. He supported the successful sale of the license and equipment supply for the OCI world-scale methanol project in Beaumont, Texas between 2013 and 2014. He has extensive experience in gas to liquids technology sales, commercialization, product management and research and development. He has global experience in sales and marketing.

Pietro returned to Calgary, Alberta in January 2014, as Director of Major Projects, Business Development responsible for Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, Canada LP’s sales in Canada across its technology portfolio.

In May of 2018, Pietro started Di Zanno and Associates Inc. providing support services to start-up companies, engineering firms, petrochemical and oil and gas companies. 

As of Dec. 2021, he was hired by Hy2gen Canada Inc. as Managing Director, Canada and was responsible for the development of projects and the functioning of the affiliate. In Sept. 2024, he was promoted to Managing Director of North America and is now responsible for the completion of the Courant, decarbonized ammonia and ammonium nitrate project, in Baie-Comeau, Quebec.
